Displayed is a rare, authentic example of a Marilyn Monroe signature on an index card. The legendary actress was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926. While her childhood was initially happy, Marilyn's home situation deteriorated, and she eventually lived in 11 foster homes and an orphanage. As a child, she had always enjoyed going to the movies, and as a young adult, she was determined to become an actress. She was living in Los Angeles, and she signed her initial movie contract with 20th Century Fox. She appeared in some small roles with Fox and then with her next movie company, Columbia Pictures. Back again with Fox, in 1950 she appeared with the Marx Brothers in Monkey Business. Bigger roles followed in How to Marry a Millionaire and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. She was now a star. Then, in 1955, she appeared on the cover and centerfold of the first issue of Playboy Magazine. She married Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio in 1954, and they divorced in '55. Monroe married playwright Arthur Miller in 1956. She was a huge hit in The Seven Year Itch and Some Like it Hot. The last completed movie that she made was The Misfits, released in 1961, and she died of an overdose of barbiturates, ruled a suspected suicide, in 1962. The 3x5" card itself is clean and free of any major defects. The signature is in green ink and appears to be 8/10. Also personalized "To Tommy." The signature card has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
