"Someone once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run," said the immortal Mickey Mantle. "I said sure, every time." Offered is a 1958-61 Jay Publishing signed photo of the 3-time AL MVP, and 7-time World Champion. The Hall of Fame center fielder had terrific power from both sides of the plate, and he belted 536 career four-baggers, more than any switch-hitter in history. In the time when this photo was produced and signed by Mantle, Mickey was 26-29 years old and still in his baseball prime. From 1958-61, Mantle averaged 41.75 home runs and 120 RBIs. The approx. 5x7" black & white photo shows a still youthful Mantle about halfway through his 18-season Major League career, all with the Yankees. Mantle's signing this ball back in the early 1960s makes it a rare item. Mantle's signature is blue ballpoint, and is 8/10 in strength. Under his signature, Mantle has inscribed his "No. 7." The photo itself has one horizontal crease, but otherwise is really nice and clean.
