Circa 1930s vaudeville poster heralding the appearance of the famed conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton. The poster features a large illustration of the two young girls, each of whom is holding a saxophone. The text reads "The Sensation of Vaudeville/San Antonio's Siamese Twins/Daisy and Violet Hilton/Born Joined Together." Published by the "Quigley Litho Co." as noted in print along the base. Daisy and Violet Hilton were two of the most famous conjoined twins in history. Despite being referred to as the San Antonio Hiltons in the United States, the sisters were born in England in 1908. They began their theatrical career at the age of three touring Europe during the 1910s before taking their act to America, where they toured on the vaudeville circuit for nearly two decades. In 1932 they appeared in the film "Freaks," but their popularity waned shortly afterward. Their last public appearance took place in 1961 and they died in 1969. The poster (28x42"), which has been dry mounted upon a white mount, displays several small light-to-moderate tears (nearly all of which have been ameliorated by the mounting process), as well as a few small areas of professional restoration. Excellent in its overall appearance. Framed to total dimensions of 35x49.5".
