Original glass plate negative capturing Babe Ruth and Lefty Gomez posing with some locals in front of Barnacle Bill's restaurant in Lindenhurst, Long Island. Ruth is pictured in his Yankee team jacket holding both a fish and a fishing pole, while Gomez, in the center, also holds his catch of the day. Research indicates that this scene most likely took place on May 5, 1932, when Ruth and many of his New York Yankees teammates spent a day fishing and then headed to Barnacle Bill's to eat. (The Yankees were enjoying a two-day break in the schedule on May 4th and 5th.) The negative (4x6") displays a tiny emulsion loss along the base and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Accompanied by a small positive photo of the image printed on paper.
