Evander Holyfield was a tremendous fighter who is the only boxer in the history of the three-belt era to have reigned as the undisputed champion of two weight classes: Cruiserweight Champion in the late 1980s, and Heavyweight Champion in the early 1990s. Presented is a pair of Evander Holyfield fight worn gloves from his April 22, 1994, fight against Michael Moorer for the WBA and IBF Championships, at Caesar's Palace in Paradise, Nevada. Holyfield had defeated Riddick Bowe in a closely contested match to regain his WBA, IBF, and lineal Heavyweight titles. Holyfield then wanted to face WBC Champion Lennox Lewis in a bid for Holyfield to add the WBC title and unify the Heavyweight crowns. Instead, the WBA and the IBF insisted that Holyfield fight Michael Moorer, the undefeated mandatory challenger. In that fight, for the WBA and IBF Championships, Holyfield knocked down Moorer in Round 2, but Moorer came back to win a majority decision in a huge upset. The offered gloves are red leather, with a sewn-on "CLCTD REYES professional 'Hecho en Mexico' (Made in Mexico)" tag at the back of the wrist. On each glove is a small tag on the top underside of each wrist. This tag states, in Spanish, "Piel de Res (Beef Skin, meaning leather). The gloves originally sold in auction when Holyfield sold his collection, so they originate right from him. Also included is a letter from Craig Hamilton, who confirmed that they were used by Holyfield in his bout vs. Moorer on April 22, 1994. The gloves show use and have remnants of the laces. After the fights, the laces are cut so that the boxers can get the gloves off. A tag on the outside of the top wrist area of each glove reads "10 oz." The gloves show fight wear, and yet are in excellent condition. This pair of Evander Holyfield fight worn gloves is a rare and desirable fight worn item from Holyfield.
