Two pair of Seattle Mariners pants, home and road, worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. in 1992. These pants come with a unique provenance. In February, 1993, Ball 4 Sports, a Maryland company, purchased a large collection of game-used equipment directly from the Seattle Mariners. These pants were included in that purchase and shortly afterward were offered publicly, along with all the other material obtained from the Mariners, in the company's advertised merchandise listings. Our consignor purchased both pants at that time and they have remained in his possession until now. (The 1992 Ken Griffey Jr. All Star Game photo-matched jersey and Griffey team jacket offered in this auction originate from the same collection.) Each pair of pants features a "Russell Athletic 36" label in the waistband. Additional waistband tagging in each pair of pants includes the year ("92"), Griffey's uniform number ("24"), the size ("36") and the inseam measurement ("34"). Both pants are original as issued and display light wear. Although 1992 marked Ken Griffey Jr.'s fourth season in the Major Leagues, he had already established himself as one of the game's all-around best players. That reputation was solidified by his final batting numbers that season, which included 27 home runs, 103 RBI, and a .308 average. He also won his third consecutive Gold Glove Award at season's end.
