John LeClair is a former NHL standout who played 16 seasons in the league with three different teams (Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins) from 1991 to 2006. Playing left wing, LeClair became the first American-born player to ever record 50 goals in three consecutive NHL seasons (1995 to ‘97) while playing on the “Legion of Doom” line in Philly with teammates Eric Lindros (center) and Mikael Renberg (right wing). LeClair is also a member of the Canadiens' 1993 Stanley Cup championship team. In fact, as a member of the Canadiens, LeClair scored two overtime game-winning goals during the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals. By the time he retired after the 2006-07 season, LeClair had registered 333 goals and 310 assists to go along with eight All-Star Game appearances. Offered here, from the personal collection of LeClair, is his all original 1993-94 Montreal Canadiens game-worn jersey. That season he scored 19 goals and tallied 25 assists in helping the Habs compile a 41-29-14 regular-season record. The red and white polyester jersey with blue trim exhibits outstanding game use with plenty of stick marks, paint transfers (all over), loose threads, burns, unrepaired cuts (left arm) and pilling throughout. CCM and NHL embroidered logos appear on the right rear tail with a “Maska Ultrafil” manufacturers tag sewn into the back collar alongside a size “54” flag tag. The Canadiens team logo stretches across the front center of the jersey in red tackle twill outlined in white and blue. LeClair’s uniform number “17” is located on either sleeve in blue tackle twill outlined in red and measures three inches tall. The verso shows his number in similar fashion centered via 11” numerals. His last name (“LeCLAIR”) stretches 9.5” across the shoulder blades in three-inch letters that are sewn onto a white nameplate. The original fight strap remains intact, to the inside back player numbers and features a custom wrap. This jersey represents the work ethic and dedication put forth by one of its top left wingers.
