Presented is the opportunity to possess the singular known example of a ticket stub from the March 11, 1984, night that Wayne Gretzky became the first NHL player to score 80 or more goals TWICE! Gretzky scored 894 goals in the NHL, and the Hall of Fame center didn't reach that astronomical total by having a bunch of nice 20-goal seasons. Especially early in his career, Gretzky's goal totals were outrageous. Gretzky's great play made him a 4-time Stanley Cup Champion in his 20-year NHL journey, mostly for the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings. He became a virtual "hoarder" of NHL Trophy hardware, racking up 10 Ross Trophies, nine Hart Trophies, five Lady Byng Awards, and countless other awards. In 1981-82, The Great One scored 92 goals for Edmonton. On the night of 3-11-84 when he scored an 80th goal for a second time, the opponents were the Vancouver Canucks, a team that ran into one of the greatest NHL attacks at its peak. Edmonton destroyed the Canucks that evening, skating to a 5-1 lead after the 1st Period and winning the game by the rare hockey score of 12-2. Gretzky scored his 80th season goal at 00:34 of the 2nd Period, on assists from Paul Coffey and Jari Kurri. Gretzky added another goal late in the game and finished with five points, with two goals and three assists. That season, Edmonton would go on to win the Stanley Cup, and Gretzky's trophy collection increased even more, as he earned Hart, Ross, and Pearson Trophies. The ticket stub measures approx. 1.25x3.6". It has been encapsulated and PSA graded VG 3, as the ONLY KNOWN EXAMPLE.
