With Ted Williams in the lineup, the Boston Red Sox of the 1940s were always a formidable force. This lot features a Boston Red Sox Professional Model baseball cap from that decade. It’s a magnificently preserved pro model cap in almost unused condition from that bygone era. This is a rare style in that the felt “B” on the front is actually sewn on and not embroidered like later styles utilized. While there is no player number inside, the official “Tim McAuliffe Inc.” manufacturer’s tag is present on the rear inner leather band with the left corner starting to unravel slightly with a few missing stitches. The cap’s head size (6 7/8) is stamped in black nearby on the same leather band.
