Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following fifteen members of the 1938 World Champion New York Yankees: Gehrig (sweet spot), Gordon (rookie season), Ruffing, Jorgens, Henrich, Chandler, Dahlgren, Sundra, Knickerbocker, Glenn, Ferrell, Hoag, Rolfe, Pearson, and one other (illegible). (The additional signatures of DiMaggio, Gomez, Dickey, and Selkirk have been deemed clubhouse examples by PSA.) Ideally, the Gehrig signature is the strongest on the ball, grading 7/10. The remainder of the signatures range in grade from 2/10 to 5/10, averaging 3/10. 1938 marked the Yankees' third of a then-record four consecutive World Championships and also the final full season of Lou Gehrig's career.
