New York Knicks ticket stub, issued for a game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Madison Square Garden on November 5, 1996, in which Kobe Bryant scored his first NBA point. Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. This is the ONLY example of this historic ticket stub graded at this level by PSA, with NONE graded higher. It is also one of just eight examples listed in the PSA Population Report. Five of those eight are simply certified as "Authentic," while two others are graded GD 2, making the offered example the highest graded by a large margin. IT should be further noted that this is the ONLY Club Suite ticket from this game we have seen. This is the first example of this ticket stub we have ever handled and we cannot recall the last time we have seen another at auction.
The game against the Knicks on November 5th was the third game of the year for the Lakers and the second game that Kobe Bryant appeared in during his rookie campaign. In his first NBA appearance, one game prior, he logged 6:23 minutes but did not score. Against the Knicks, he failed to connect on his one field goal attempt, but registered his first and only point of the game at the free throw line. Little did anyone in attendance that night realize that they were witness to history in the making. Bryant quickly established himself as one of the greatest players in the NBA and managed to score another 33,642 points during his career, ranking him fourth on the NBA's all-time scoring list. A rare modern-era NBA ticket stub that would be among the highlights of any advanced Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, or basketball memorabilia collection.
