For a baseball fan looking for a unique item to heighten interest in any sports collection, the offered Bugs Bunny cartoon cel signed by Willie, Mickey, and the Duke fits perfectly. Terry Cashman's hit song "Talkin' Baseball" (Willie, Mickey & the Duke) made its debut during the 1981 baseball strike when fans were longing for the innocence of earlier baseball, particularly the baseball of the 1950s when New York City, through 1957, still had three Major League teams. What a trio of center fielders the Big Apple possessed! Mays patrolled the immense center field expanse at the Polo Grounds so well that the Giants could employ left and right fielders without range because Mays played half of their areas as well. "The Say Hey Kid" wound up with 660 round trippers. Mantle was perhaps the fastest man in baseball when he debuted in 1951, and although leg injuries would slow him, he belted 536 lifetime homers, the most by any switch hitter in history. Edwin "Duke" Snider had what Brooklyn owner Branch Rickey said were "steel springs" in his legs, and Snider was great at jumping high against outfield walls and snaring balls meant for the seats. Duke's hit 407 home runs and hit a career .295. The Warner Brothers' cartoon cel shows Bugs Bunny wearing a Brooklyn Dodgers hat and batting right-handed. Each of the three great center fielders has signed the offering, in neat, big and bold script, using a blue marker. The cartoon cel measures 10.1x13.1", framed to 18x22". A small, stamped "seal" of the cel shows a Warner Brothers authentication and below the "seal" is a Warner Brothers 1992 copyright symbol. The framed, signed cartoon cel is in excellent condition.
