Presented is an eye-catching, vibrant 2004 Mike Hampton Atlanta Braves game worn jersey. Hampton was a left-handed pitcher who played in the Major Leagues from 1993-2005, and after missing two seasons because of injury, he played again from 2008-10. The athletic Hampton played for six Major League clubs, with most of his service with the Houston Astros (1994-99 and 2009) and the Atlanta Braves (2003-05). Hampton had a lifetime record of 148-115, with a career 4.06 ERA. In 2004, when Hampton game wore this jersey, his record was 13-9, with a 4.28 ERA. Mike's best season was in 1999, with Houston, when he went 22-4, with a 2.90 ERA, and he was the runner-up for the NL Cy Young Award. Hampton was a fine all-around athlete who batted .246 lifetime and was sometimes used as a pinch hitter. Injuries greatly shortened his time in the Major Leagues. Hampton's 2004 Braves finished first in the East Division of the NL, with a 96-66 record, and then were eliminated from the playoffs by the Houston Astros in the NL Division Series. Hampton was a 2-time All-Star, a 4-time Silver Slugger winner, and a Gold Glove recipient. The white, polyester home jersey shows BRAVES across the chest, in red script with navy blue trim. Under the team's name is an eye-popping image of the Braves' tomahawk, in red, navy blue and gold. The jersey has six silver-colored buttons down the front. The left sleeve has a "21" patch honoring Hall of Fame Boston/Milwaukee Braves' left-hander Warren Spahn. The left sleeve also has a Russell manufacturer's tag. On the lower outside tail is a Russell Athletic manufacturer's tag. Three other tags are affixed to the same area: a 2004 tag; a size 48 100% polyester tag; and a 2" Extra Length" tag. The back has an MLB tag on the neck. A white sewn on name tag shows "HAMPTON" in navy blue block letters. Across the back is 32, in red numerals, with navy blue trim. The game worn jersey exhibits minimal wear, and it is in excellent condition.
