Original letter, dated August 4, 1998, addressed to Barry Bonds from National League President Leonard Coleman, informing Bonds of his three-game suspension and $1,000 fine for his actions in a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on August 2nd. In his letter, on official National League letterhead, Coleman writes in part: "You are hereby suspended for three (3) games, effective tomorrow, August 5th, and fined $1,000 for charging the mound and instigating a bench-clearing incident." Signed "Leonard Coleman" in black ink (grading 7/10). Despite missing the three games, Bonds enjoyed another banner season in 1998, finishing the year with 37 home runs, 122 RBI, and a .303 batting average.
