Presented is a Walter Johnson signed cut autograph of a newspaper article detailing his record-tying 16 game American League winning streak. Johnson, known as both "Barney" and "The Big Train," played his entire Major League career with the Washington Senators (1907-27). The Inaugural Hall of Famer holds the Major league record with 110 shutouts and is second in MLB annals with 417 career wins, and fourth in MLB complete games (531). In 1912, Johnson won 16 straight wins, tying Smokey Joe Wood for that season's best in the American League and still in a tie with Wood, Lefty Grove, and Schoolboy Rowe for the all-time American League record of 16 straight. The article, in the form of a chart, measures 2.3x3.75" and details Johnson's marvelous streak. The cut newspaper article has been affixed to a 2.5x4" piece of paper or card stock that was cut, most likely from scrapbook page. Johnson has signed the newspaper article in dark blue or black ink from a fountain pen. The cut signature has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as Auto Grade MINT 9.
