Displayed is an unusual 1920s original Type III photograph, originating from Sussman Studios, of a youthful Babe Ruth posing in his undershirt, most likely for an advertisement. In the 1920s, Ruth hadn't put on the weight he carried in his later career - in the 1930s. Because many persons form an image of Ruth from photographs and newsreels from the 1930s, many baseball fans tend to forget that in his prime Ruth was in good shape, and he was a good fielding pitcher, and then outfielder, who ran well. The offered photo is unusual in that most photos of Ruth depict him in a baseball uniform or well-dressed in a suit, possibly wearing an overcoat. For years baseball's all-time home run king, with his once sacrosanct 714 round-trippers, Ruth still has the all-time MLB records for slugging percentage (.690) and OPS (1.164). Add Ruth's lifetime batting average of .342 and his 94-46 pitching slate, with a lifetime 2.28 ERA, and the case for Ruth's being baseball's "Greatest of All-Time" (G.O.A.T.) is easily made. The offered original photo measures 7.9x10", and it has a "Sussman" hand-printed marking on the right side. The photograph is in excellent condition, and it has been encapsulated and PSA certified as Type III AUTHENTIC.
