** FAKE **

A Babe Ruth home run created a golden marketing opportunity for a Saint Louis car dealership. During Game 4 of the 1926 World Series, Ruth slugged a record three home runs vs. the Cardinals at Sportsman's Park, with the second one bouncing over the fence and breaking a window at neighboring Wells Motor Co. When "The Babe" surveyed the damage following the game, the media made it a top story, with Ruth playing it up by sticking his head through the broken pane. The dealership seized the opportunity and gifted Ruth with the coup that he hit on the rebound. From that point forward, sales at the Wells Motor Co. skyrocketed, and they used Ruth's image on a steering wheel and on "Best Wishes" cards such as the one offered here. Measuring roughly 3x5" and dating back nearly 100 years, this simple card features colored pen handwriting and matted image of the Sultan of Swat.
