During the mid-1930s the Quaker Oats company hit a home run when it recruited Babe Ruth to promote its line of Puffed Wheat and Puffed Rice cereals. Central to to that advertising campaign was the offer of "free" gifts that could be obtained only by sending in box tops from either cereal. Naturally, Ruth's likeness or name was featured on nearly all the gifts, which today are highly collectible. This incredible lot features examples of nearly all of the many Babe Ruth Quaker Oats pieces produced at the time. This collection was once presented in a massive framed display that has since been disassembled. As such, most of the pieces are still mounted upon their cardboard backings from the display. However, none are directly affixed to their backings and all can be easily removed from their respective mounts with no damage to the piece, if so desired. Unless otherwise noted, all the pieces are in Excellent condition or better. Many of the items are accompanied by copies of the original advertisements for the respective gift(s). The collection consists of the following: 1) Babe Ruth Champions celluloid pin ("B" on hat). 2) Babe Ruth Champions metal pin ("B" on hat). 3-4) Pair of Babe Ruth pocket knives (green/red and red/white; they were offered in multiple color combinations). 5) Babe Ruth's Big Book of Baseball (VG). 6) Official Babe Ruth 1934 membership card with original envelope. 7) Gold-plated baseball ring. 8) Gold-plated baseball bracelet. 9) Babe Ruth Champions emblem. 10) Babe Ruth watch fob scorer ("B" on hat). 11) Babe Ruth umpire's scorer with original mailing sleeve. 12-15) Babe Ruth Famous Series on "How to Play Baseball" (complete with all four booklets: "How to Throw Curves," "How to Play the Outfield," "How to Play the Infield," and "How to Knock Home Runs"). 16-23) Eight different "Ask Me" baseball game cards (the complete set consists of 24 cards). Included with the collection is vintage full-page newspaper advertisement picturing many of the gifts featured in this lot.
