Marvelous collection of stuff that was collected over the decades by one of the pioneering fathers of boxing collecting. Jack Johnson (5): 1900s Herald Syndicate cropped boxing pose (8x4”), lovely images of Jim Flynn training for JJ, dignitaries in Havana for Johnson-Willard. Amazing early material: 1900s One Round Hogan by White, Ketchell-O’Brien montage, Red Riley cabinet signed to Al Grayber, gorgeous Buck Crouse portrait on board. Great images: eight Marciano & Louis (gorgeous Boston Record American poses and action shots), fantastic group of 12 printed in 1950s (Louis, Johnson, more), 1929 Leo Houck, Foreman dethrones Frazier (2), the ultimate Marciano portrait, Joe Louis by Sam Andre, Tiger-Griffith. Wire photos: 1930s Dempsey with Schmeling (2), ten 1949 Pep-Saddler action (nice!), five beautiful Joe Louis action shots (Ettore KO, 1937 Conn KO), 1940s Ray Robinson action and two with Joe Louis (6), Gene Tunney (4), Patterson-Liston (4). Fighters’ names are handwritten in ink on the fronts of some photos. Overall EX.
