1991-92 Washington Capitals goalie mask game used by veteran netminder Don Beaupre. No labels are evident, though the color scheme does compliment the original uniform style used by the Caps for the franchise's first two decades, with white combo birdcage-style mask featuring a white Capital Dome on a blue background with red stripes and white and blue stars. Great use is shown with various scrapes and scuffs consistent with game action, though the straps and back plate are not present. All other padding is still intact inside the mask, including the chin strap. This style is from the early years of the hybrid mask, which incorporated a section of a birdcage mask over an opening a the full fiberglass-style mask, designed to increase visibility and now a staple among hockey goalies and - many years later - baseball catchers. Beaupre's career spanned 17 seasons as a solid NHL goalie and his 1991-92 numbers bear that out as he went 29-17-6 with a 3.20 GAA for Washington, good enough to place 2nd in the Patrick Division. Great game used specimen, very tough find from goalies of this era.
