This simply-designed red and white jersey struck fear into hockey opponents around the world thanks to the four letters on the chest - CCCP - or, USSR in English. Soviet Union jersey dates from the 1980s has Maksa tag in collar, and another with care instructions that has a faded stamp that looks to read, "Size 50." Number 21 is in white on shoulders and back, fight strap has been removed, and great use is evident with stick marks, paint transfers, burns, unrepaired rips and cut, loose threads, and lots of pilling inside. No name is on the back, which makes this tricky to identify. Sergei Shepelev wore number 21 for the Soviets in international play from 1981-85 and this design is consistent with that era, though jerseys worn at the 1980 Olympics and 1981 Canada Cup did have names on back, making it possible that this was used in club play for the Soviet Red Army team. Of course, American fans best remember the 1980 Miracle on Ice, though the USSR did achieve a measure of redemption by defeating Canada in the 1981 Canada Cup finale.
