Collection of fifty-four government postcards, two real photo postcards, an oversized index card, and a cut, each featuring the signature of a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. These cards are part of a much larger signature collection compiled by our consignor's father in the late 1940s ("The Long Beach Autograph Collection"). Like nearly all autograph collectors at the time, his main method was to write each player and enclose a prepaid self-addressed government postcard to be signed and returned. As we can see here, most players were more than happy to oblige. All the items from the collection are featured in nineteen separate lots in this auction, including the signatures of many prominent Hall of Famers. Unless otherwise noted, the signatures have been scripted in either blue or black ink and grade between 7/10 and 10/10. Several have been personalized (to "Bob" or "Robert"). Many of the postcards display handwritten notations from the original recipient on the autographed side of the postcard. Ten of the cards have a piece of vintage clear tape affixed to the base in repair of a small tear. Very Good condition overall.

The following five postcards have been encapsulated by PSA, with each signature certified as "Authentic" (cards were submitted by Lelands): Clarke, Crawford, Greenberg, Griffith, and Hartnett.

The remaining signatures in the collection are those of Appling (two examples, one card is also signed by Cass Michaels), Ashburn, Averill, Boudreau, Combs, Coveleski, Cronin, Dickey (two examples, each with a personalization), Doerr, Durocher (personalization), Faber (pencil), Ferrell, Frisch, Gehringer, Gomez (personalization), Grove, Harris (personalization), Hooper (two examples, one is a real-photo postcard with a personalization), Hoyt, Hubbell, Kell, Kiner (personalization), Lemon, Lindstrom, Lombardi, Lopez, Mack (cut signature), McKechnie (green ink), Medwick, Mize (two examples; one on an oversized index card), Musial, Newhouser (real-photo postcard), Reese, Rizzuto (personalization), Rixey (personalization), Roberts, Roush, Ruffing, Schalk (personalization), Schoendienst, Slaughter (personalization), Snider, Spahn, Stengel, Terry (pencil), Vaughan, L. Waner, and Wynn.
