Original 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers team photo picturing the club wearing their special white-satin uniforms, which were used only for night games. While we have seen numerous photos of Dodgers players in their satin uniforms (they also had a blue variation), this is the only such team photo we can recall, making it a unique Brooklyn Dodgers piece. Thirty-four team members are pictured here, posing on the field, including Robinson, Campanella, Snider, Reese, Hodges, Branca, Newcombe, Furillo, and Roe. Research indicates that the Dodgers wore white satin uniforms between the years 1944 and 1948 and also during spring training. If so, this photo was probably taken prior to the start of the 1948 season, because Don Newcombe did not make the club that year (his Major League debut took place on May 20, 1949). The photo (9.25x7.25"), which displays light creasing throughout, has been mounted upon a heavy cardboard backing and is matted to total dimensions of 11.25x9.25". (Please note: this is an original, vintage photo, but PSA will not authenticate it because, as a matter of company policy, PSA will not evaluate mounted photographs.)
