Displayed is a 1963 Bob Cousy signed Type III San Francisco Examiner photograph of the Boston Celtics Hall of Famer as he scores against the San Francisco Warriors. The black and white photo measures 11x14". On the back of the photo is attached a clipping of the photo as it ran in the San Francisco Examiner the next day. The caption reads, "BOB COUSY'S FINAL GAME IN S.F. --- AND HE GIVES FANS A SHOW ...Celtic guard drives around Warriors Gary Phillips (34) to score." Also, stamped onto the clipping, in black, "FEB 22 1963." Stamped onto the paper backing of the photo is "SPTS/BASKETBALL --PRO S.F. WARRIORS." Handwritten on the back of the photo, in blue ballpoint by an unknown hand, "Store[?]/Bob Cousy #14/Gary Phillips #34." The back of the photo has also been stamped in five locations, in green ink, "COUSY & HAVLICEK'S Sports Bar & Family Restaurant." The Celtics won the aforementioned game 135-118. Cousy scored 15 points and had six assists in only 18 minutes. Cousy was known as the "Harry Houdini of the Hardwood" for his on-court magic: behind-the-back dribbling, behind-the-back passes, no-look passes, and baseball style long passes on the fast break. Except for a brief seven-game, comeback span as a player coach with the Cincinnati Royals in the 1969-70 season, Cousy played his entire NBA career with Boston (1950-63). The charismatic "Cooz" averaged 18.4 points and 7.5 assists over his career. He was a playmaker who revolutionized the game with his passing flair. Cousy was a 13-time All-Star who helped create the Celtic dynasty and was a part of six NBA Championships. The photo has several "arrows" and notations at the top of the photo that were intended for the newspaper editors preparing the photo for publication. The signed photo comes with a full PSA LOA that PSA/DNA certifies the autograph as "AUTHENTIC" and provides the photograph certification number as "1P15128." Cousy has signed the photo, with a silver marker, with the same larger than life flair in his signature that he used with his miraculous passing.
