Rare collection of vintage Pacific Coast League (PCL) memorabilia relating to the career of Arthur Leland "Mike" Hunt, the league's premier slugger during the 1930s. Hunt played in the PCL from 1930 to 1939, and was the league's leader in both home runs and RBI in 1936 and 1937. Our consignor acquired these items directly from Hunt's wife decades ago and they have remained in his sole possession since that time. 1) Circa 1936-1939 Mike Hunt game used pro model bat. The bat features Hunt's stamped facsimile signature on the barrel. The bat, which is not cracked, measures 35 inches and weighs 35.75 ounces, displays moderate use. 2-3) Circa 1920s right-handed fielder's glove and photo. According to Hunt's family, he used this glove for nearly his entire baseball career beginning in high school. Given the tremendous amount of wear displayed, it's probably true. The glove (no manufacturing stampings visible) has a hole in the pocket and numerous tears to the leather, including some that have been repaired. Accompanying the glove is a real-photo postcard (3.5x5.5"; FR-GD) picturing a young Hunt in uniform (team unknown) wearing a similar style glove (most likely this very glove). 4) Mike Hunt home-run ball. The Official Pacific Coast League (Tuttle) ball bears the following handwritten ink notations on the sweet spot and side panel: "Sunday Aug 7 1938/Seattle 12th Home Run/Win 7-5 Hutchinson won 18th game." Hunt was a member of the Seattle Rainiers in 1938, and he finished the season with 13 home runs. The "Hutchinson" referenced here is Fred Hutchinson, who won a team-high 25 games that season, before enjoying a successful ten-year career with the Detroit Tigers. W. C. Tuttle was commissioner of the PCL from 1936-1943. 5) Mike Hunt signed photograph. The black-and-white photo has been signed by Hunt in black ink (grading 7/10) in the lower right corner. The notation "Seattle 1936" is written in black ink along the bottom border. 8x10". VG.
