First appearing in 1796, the distinguishing Robert Scot’s Heraldic design on reverse is adapted from the Great Seal of the United States. Scot erroneously placed the arrows in the eagle’s dexter claw (the more honorable position), while placing the olive branch in his sinister claw. Issued until 1807, obverse is female Liberty surrounded by 13 stars and “Liberty 1803”. Extra fine condition.
