Traynor batted .320 lifetime, with seven seasons of more than 100 RBIs. As for his defense at third base, he was a 7-time NL leader in putouts, a 4-time NL leader in double plays, and a 3-time NL leader in assists. Before the ascension of Eddie Mathews, Brooks Robinson, George Brett, and Mike Schmidt in the 1950s-1970s, Traynor was usually considered the best third baseman in baseball history. Traynor has stylishly signed a 3x5", blank index card, using ink from a fountain pen. He has signed his first name, his nickname (Pie) and his last name. Traynor has put his nickname in quotation marks, and, purposely or not, he has constructed the "P" in "Pie" with an extra-large letter "P" so that the top part of the letter "P" seems to be by itself a large pie. Traynor's use of large first letters in each of his three names gives the autograph a very theatrical flair.
