From the earliest days of Bill Russell's NBA career comes this remarkable Bill Russell Boston Celtics debut ticket. Boston Garden ticket dated December 22, 1956 entitled its original owner to witness history from Section 63, Row A, Seat 4 for the amazingly low sum of only $2.50. Arguably the most significant ticket we've handled, this recently discovered example is the only one known, has been sent to PSA by Lelands, and has been promptly encapsulated Authentic 1 of 1. Bill Russell is one of the most iconic figures in American sports. If there is one word to define Russell it would have to be "winner." Wherever Russell went, wins followed. In college he led the San Francisco Dons to consecutive NCAA basketball championships in 1955 and 1956. Then he captained the 1956 Olympic Basketball Team to a Gold Medal. He went straight to the Boston Celtics and continued his winning ways, taking the Celtics to 11 NBA Championships in his 13 seasons with the team. In 1966 he became the first African American coach in NBA history when he succeeded Red Auerbach as coach of the Celtics, and one year later he became the first African American NBA coach to win a championship. Included among his many individual achievements are five MVP Awards, twelve All-Star Game appearances, and three All NBA First Team selections.
