Program and ticket stub issued for the memorable heavyweight title bout between champion Jack Dempsey and Louis Firpo held at the Polo Grounds in New York City on September 14, 1923. This was the famous bout in which Firpo was knocked down seven times in the first round, only to recover and knock Dempsey completely out of the ring later in the round. Dempsey was able to return to the ring before being counted out and eventually knocked Firpo out in the second round to retain his title. The fold-over program (8.5x11.5"), which features photos of both fighters on the cover, displays a heavy horizontal fold and several tears that have been repaired on the interior with clear tape. In Fair to Good condition overall. The ticket stub (2.5x2.75"), issued for a "Ringside" seat, displays two cancellation punches, creasing, and a vintage black fountain-pen notation on the reverse that reads "Jack Dempsey knocked out Louis Firpo in 2nd." Good condition.
