Large collection of sports autographs, including those of baseball, football, and basketball players, nearly all of which were personally obtained by the original owner during his childhood. Many of the baseball and basketball autographs are featured in an autograph album he compiled in the 1950s and 1960s. The remainder of the collection consists mainly of government postcards. Approximately half of the autograph album consists of entries by his schoolmates, but the other half was used to collect the signatures of his favorite athletes. The signatures, scripted in a variety of inks, grade 7/10 on average. Very Good condition overall. Autograph Album. Baseball: Elston Howard, Ralph Houk, Hector Lopez, Yogi Berra, Ralph Terry, Red Barber (Dodgers and Yankees announcer), Mel Allen (Yankees announcer), Jim Busby, Jack Reed, and Tom Tresh. Basketball: Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Red Auerbach, Tommy Heinsohn, K. C. Jones, Bill Ramsey, Rod Hundley, Phil Jordan, Johnny Green, George Blaney, and Wayne Yates. Postcards (mainly government postcards from the early 1960s; one signature per card). Baseball: Spud Murray, Roland Sheldon, Whitey Ford, Bobby Richardson, Red Barber (Dodgers and Yankees announcer), Jim Hegan, Jim Bouton (personalized "To Stefan"). Football: Bart Starr (personalized "To Stefan"), Gale Sayers, Matt Hazeltine, and Dick Lynch (personalized "To Stefan"). Also included are the following: 1) Brief handwritten letter to the original owner from Dan Devine, and 2) Official Major League (Selig) ball signed on the sweet spot by Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca (GD, with a stain on the top panel).
