Displayed is a program for the American Football League's 2nd Annual All-Star Game, played before 27,641 fans after the 1962 season on January 13, 1963, at San Diego's Balboa Stadium. The West Division (coached by the Dallas Texans' Hank Stram, later a Pro Football Hall of Fame coach) won the game over the East Division (coached by the Houston Oilers Pop Ivy) 21-14. The West took a 14-0 half time lead on a 64-yard Curtis McClinton run and a 21-yard pass from the Dallas Texans' Ken Dawson to San Diego's Dave Kocourek. In the second half, the East scored on an 8-yard TD pass from the Houston Oilers' George Blanda to teammate Charley Hennigan, and a Larry Grantham (New York Titans) 27-yard interception return. The West added a Frank Tripucka to Lionel Taylor 20-yard TD pass. The program measures 7.6x10.5", and consists of 32 pages, including covers. The program has the expected starting line-ups, rosters, statistics, articles and photos concerning the vintage AFL. Some of the All-Stars for the East included Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback George Blanda, and stars Jack Kemp, Cookie Gilcrest, and Charlie Hennigan. A few of the East All-Stars: Pro Football Hall of Famers center Jim Otto and quarterback Len Dawson - plus, stars Lionel Taylor and Ernie Ladd. The offering also includes a signed 8x10" photo from the on-field officials of the game. The program and the signed photo are both in excellent condition.
