Rare 1942 race worn horseshoe from American thoroughbred Aslab. Attached tag bears handwriting reading, "Aslab wore this shoe on left front when he won the Lawrence Realization, Belmont 1942, and when we was second to Whirlaway in the Jockey Club Gold Cup, Belmont 1942." Though not a household name, Aslab had an impressive career, finishing in the money in all but 10 of his 51 career starts, including 25 wins. Worth noting that two of those victories came in three head-to-head meetings against Whirlaway, with the aforementioned 2nd place finish while wearing this very artifact. Nice use shown.
