Ticket stub issued for Lou Gehrig Memorial Day at Yankee Stadium on July 4, 1941. This was the day that the Yankees planned to unveil Lou Gehrig's monument in center field. The date was chosen because it was two years to the date of Lou Gehrig's famous "Luckiest Man" speech. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and both the game that day and the Gehrig ceremony were postponed due to rain. Both took place two days later on July 6th. Because the ticket features a photo of Gehrig on the front, it has always been highly coveted by collectors for its display value. Although the day belonged to Gehrig's memory, it must be noted that Joe DiMaggio had hits in both games of the doubleheader played on July 6th, extending his legendary hitting streak to 48 games. The ticket stub (3.25x2.5") displays several moderate creases and is in Good to Very Good condition overall.
