Displayed is a return address label with the signature of Inaugural Baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, a man some baseball followers feel is the greatest of all time, the baseball GOAT. Cobb, a center fielder, played from 1905-28 in the Major Leagues, all with the Detroit Tigers except for the final two seasons, as a Philadelphia Athletic. Cobb's lifetime .366 batting average is the greatest of all-time, and he won 12 batting titles. At one time, he held the Major League records for hits (4,189) and stolen bases (897). After his playing days, Cobb lived in Menlo Park, California, and environs, from the 1930s until his death in 1961. The label measures approx. 2.25x4.25". Writing in blue ink, Ty Cobb filled out the "from" part of the label with, "T.R. Cobb/Menlo Park, Calif." The "to" part of the label reads, "Mike Anderson/225 Barberry Lane/Lexington, Ky." The "T" in the Cobb signature shows some smudging, and there is a light, underlying stain on most of the front of the label, possibly from water or glue. An approx. 2.25x0.75" area on the back of the label shows tape or tape residue. The address label has been encapsulated and PSA certified as "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
