Displayed is a 1937 Type I team photograph of the New York Giants that has the signatures of Hall of Famer Mel Ott and several other Giants. The photo measures approx. 6.9x8.6", and it depicts the Giants in the clubhouse after a big victory - possibly after clinching the National League pennant. The Giants went 95-57 in 1937 and lost the World Series to the New York Yankees, 4-1 in games. Ott, hit .294, with 31 home runs and 95 RBIs. Also signing the photo is Harry Danning, a catcher who batted .285, Sam Leslie, a back-up first baseman who hit .309, and pitcher Dick Coffman, who had an 8-3 record with a 3.04 ERA. A fifth signature on the photo is not legible. Ott was the first National Leaguer to ever reach 500 home runs, and he finished his career with 511 round-trippers and a batting average of .304. Ott, an outfielder, led the National League in home runs six times, and he was a key member of the 1933 Giants World Champions. Ott was also a manager of the Giants for seven seasons, mostly as a player-manager. On the back, an unknown hand has written, in ink, "NY Giants/1937." The photo shows some minor creasing, and the right margin has a slightly uneven cut. Overall, the photo is in very good condition. The photo comes with a PSA LOA.
