Walt Disney is an American cultural icon who was an innovative animator, a prolific film producer, and a pioneering entrepreneur. Presented is an extremely rare item, a Walt Disney signed contract from the "ANNUAL MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS OF WED (which stands for Walter E. Disney) ENTERPRISES, INC., A California Corporation." Walt Disney had an early interest in art and drawing in his native Chicago, Illinois, and he moved to California and became an animator, working with Ub Iwerks to develop the character of Mickey Mouse. Disney had great success developing animated films such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dumbo, and Bambi. Disney went into television with shows such as The Mickey Mouse Club and Walt Disney's Disneyland. By 1955, Disney had opened Disneyland, in Anaheim, California. Walt Disney holds the individual record for both the most Academy Award nominations (59) and most Academy Awards won (22). Disneyland led to his later theme park, Disney World. Walt Disney has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for film and one for television, and he is in the Television Hall of Fame. The offered signed contract is on two, typed 8.5x11" pages. The pages have three-hole punch holes on the left side. The contract comprises the minutes of the annual shareholder's meeting "at 9:00 A.M., February 20, 1956, in the principal office of the Corporation, 2400 West Alameda Avenue, Burbank, California." The contract states that present was "Walter E. Disney, the owner of One Hundred Forty-Two and One-Half shares of the capital stock of said Corporation, being a majority of said shares." The aforementioned minutes state that the five-person board of directors of the Corporation, including Walt Disney as Chairman, was elected 'by acclamation." The contract goes on to state: "That all of the actions of the directors and officers of the Corporation since the last previous meeting of the shareholders be, and hereby are, approved, ratified, and confirmed." In addition to the signature of Royal Clark, the secretary of the meeting, the minutes are approved by "Walter E. Disney/Chairman of the Meeting." Disney signed, in blue ink, in big and bold script. The aforementioned pages show some toning and darkening because of the passage of time, but the two-page contract is in otherwise excellent condition. The signed contract comes with a PSA LOA.
