Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth and former heavyweight boxing champion Jack Sharkey at a banquet dinner, circa 1940s. Both were well past their prime at the time, but they still look to be in fine fettle as they enjoy each other's company. The credit stamp of "Leslie R. Jones/Boston Herald-Traveler Staff Photographer" appears on the reverse, as does a date stamp of "April 17 1948." (Despite the date stamp, this photo was taken years earlier because Ruth was gravely ill in the spring of 1948.) The photo (10x8") displays a few light surface wrinkles.
