Superb circa 1935 ring robe worn by boxing light-heavyweight Abe Feldman. Satin robe is dark purple with white trim and white sash, with Feldman's arched name embroidered across the back. Abe was a Jewish boxer who started his pro career in the 1930s as a light-heavyweight. In 1933 in a charity event Feldman fought future Heavyweight Champion Jim Braddock, with the bout ending in a no contest after Braddock suffered a broken hand. Despite his talent he never competed in a title bout, though the Braddock contest was featured in the 2005 movie Cinderella Man, assuring his place in silver screen immortality. Nice use displayed, great vintage item.
