Though the use of cigarettes was rising in popularity in the early 20th century, many tobacco users chose to buy their own leaf for chewing or dipping - a tradition that has continued into the modern era of baseball in particular. This circa 1920s tin is roughly the size of a cigarette pack and heralds, "Bambino Smoking Tobacco... made of selected Burley tobacco naturally aged and pleasantly flavored." The empty tin shows age with some rusting evident, though the label and outline of Babe in swinging action still present nicely. Inside the lid is small print vouching for the product once contained therein, and offering a refund to any unsatisfied patrons. Fantastic vintage artifact.
