Presented is a 1960s Mickey Mantle signed place card. Mantle was always larger than life, and in the early 1960s, the Hall of Famer was still going strong. In 1961, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris chased Babe Ruth's single season home run record of 60, Mantle was slowed by a hip abscess, and Maris passed Ruth with his 61st home run on the last day of the regular season. For his career, Mantle hit 536 home runs, the most by any switch-hitter in history. He was a part of seven World Series champions, won three American League MVPs, was a 16-time All-Star, and took the Triple Crown in 1956. Mantle holds the Major League lifetime record for career home runs in the World Series, with 18. In the edited words of the consignor, "The autograph was obtained when Mickey, along with other members of the New York Yankees, came to St. Vincent’s Hospital [in New York City] where my sister worked [as a nurse], when the Yankees made a significant donation to the cure of Hodgkins Disease, from which Mickey’s father suffered. The place card was set on a table where Mickey sat, and when she [the consignor's sister] told Mick that her family were all huge Yankee and Mantle fans, he signed the card and gave it to her." On the front of the place card is printed, "Mickey Mantle, Esq." There are two pieces of tape on back. Mantle has signed the card in pen, signing with his usual big and bold, neatly written signature. The signature is 8/10. The signed place card makes a very unusual memento from one of baseball's most iconic superstars. Comes with PSA LOA.
