Offered is a game worn Dennis Hull Chicago Black Hawks jersey from the 1976-77 NHL season, his final campaign with Chicago. Dennis Hull is the brother of Hall of Fame hockey immortal Bobby Hull, and these Hull brothers played together for eight seasons (1964-65 through 1971-72) on the Black Hawks. When Dennis first joined the Black Hawks, his older brother Bobby was already a superstar. Both players were left wings, and after playing in the shadow of Bobby, Dennis eventually emerged as a star himself. Dennis was a 5-time All-Star, and his best seasons were in the early and mid-1970s as a member of the "MPH Line" for Chicago, with MPH standing for both "Miles Per Hour" and for the last names of the players on the line: center Pit Martin, right wing Jim Pappin and left-wing Dennis Hull. In 1970-71, Dennis scored 40 goals, and in 1972-73 he had 39 goals and 90 points. In 1976-77, the year when this jersey was worn, Dennis had 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points. In his career, Dennis played 14 NHL seasons, all with Chicago except his final season, in 1977-78, when he played with the Detroit Red Wings. He had 303 career goals and 351 assists for 654 points. The white jersey, with black and red trim, is all original. It exhibits light but definite use, with a big team repair on the back, some black stick marks, and a few stains. There is a "76" year tag inside the tail. Inside is a metal clip fight strap. In the collar are "Wilson size 44" and "Gunzo" tagging. "10" is sewn on the front, back, and shoulder. There is a Wilson tag on the front tail on which the jersey size was written in and then became washed out, but the jersey measures to be a size 52. The front displays the brilliant, multi-colored headdress of the Native American Black Hawk logo, and a different Black Hawk logo is displayed on both shoulders. Dennis Hull is also the uncle of Brett and Bart Hull, the sons of Bobby Hull. Brett was an NHL player and Bart was a running back in the Canadien Football League. After his playing career, the gregarious Dennis became a broadcaster, educator, public speaker, and a comedian. Dennis also authored a book, The Third Best Hull, that provides a very humorous accounting of his hockey career. The jersey is in very good condition, and it provides a valued Dennis Hull and Hull Family memento.
