Hall of Famer Frank Robinson became the first African-American manager in Major League Baseball when he became the player-manager of the Cleveland Indians in 1975. The outfielder/first baseman is the only player to have won the MVP Award in both leagues. Robinson played 21 Major League seasons. He started his Major League career with the Cincinnati Reds, becoming the NL Rookie of the Year in 1956. Robinson was the NL MVP in 1961 and was traded to the Baltimore Orioles for the 1966 season after Cincinnati Reds executive Bill DeWitt said Robinson was "an old 30." All Robinson did in his first season as an Oriole at "an old 30" was to win the AL Triple Crown and MVP as he batted .316, with 49 home runs and 122 RBIs, helped the Orioles to the World Championship and was named the World Series MVP. Robinson was a 14-time All-Star, a 2-time World Champion and the AL Manager of the Year with the Orioles in 1989. The jersey was used by Frank for charity softball games in the late 1960s or early '70s. We have had other players' jerseys like this. All the lettering and numbering is sewn on. Across the chest, the red, white and blue jersey has "All Stars" sewn on in white letters against a blue background. The back has white lettering and white numerals sewn on a blue background and reading "F. ROBINSON 20." Each sleeve has red stars set against a white background. There is a "POST" Manufacturer's tag in the collar, and that gag shows the size as "Large." The jersey shows use, with a few loose threads and a few tiny stains. Otherwise, the beautiful jersey is in excellent condition.
