Presented is a 1967 Frank Malzone Boston Red Sox American League Championship ring. Malzone was an All-Star third baseman who played 12 Major League seasons, the first 11 of them for Boston, and he was a scout with the Red Sox organization when he was presented this ring. Malzone was an outstanding fielder. When the Gold Glove Award was initiated in 1957, with the first year of the Gold Gloves awarded as a Major League award, Malzone won the award, and then won the American League Gold Glove for third basemen in '58 and '59. Malzone played in the Majors from 1955-1966, with his final season for the California Angels. He was an 8-time All-Star who hit .274 lifetime, with 133 home runs. The ring comes directly from the Malzone family. The ring is size 12. The ring face has a "B" for Boston, and in the inner parts of the "B" are two red gems, assumed to be rubies. Around the ring face it reads "BOSTON RED SOX AL CHAMPIONS." The letters "A" and "L" are separated, with the "A" on the left and the "L" on the right, crossed bats, and a baseball glove with a baseball in the pocket. The left prong reads "1967" and has the Red Sox logo. The right prong reads "MALZONE" and shows a Red Sox cap, the tops of crossed bats, and a baseball glove with a ball in the pocket. The ring is stamped "BALFOUR 10K" inside. The ring is in excellent condition, with light wear and abrasions. It comes directly from the Malzone family.
