Exceedingly rare 1955-56 Chicago Black Hawks jersey game worn by Hall of Famer Harry Watson. Lipman's of Detroit and size 50 tagging is sewn inside the bottom left seam, and our research indicates that this is from the penultimate season in Watson's 14-year career. Heavy weight top definitely evokes the use of the word "sweater" to describe hockey jerseys, as the home white top has a beautiful felt Black Hawks crest across the chest, with black assistant's "A" on the left breast. Chicago's C with crossed tomahawks felt logo patch is on each sleeve, with black number 5 on back. Original red drawstring in the collar has faded slightly to pink, bleeding slightly into the eyelet holes and more prominently to the inside of the jersey. Great use displayed with various scuffs and five team repairs to the shoulder areas. Watson won the first of his five Stanley Cups in just his second NHL season in 1942-43, before earning four more as a key contributor in the Toronto Maple Leafs' dynasty run of the late 1940s and early '50s. Fresh to the hobby, this jersey has not seen the light of day since it was game used, a remarkable find from an NHL great.
