Offered is a 1984 invitation sent to Muhammad Ali to become a member of the Republican Party Inner Circle and a photo of Ali with then President Ronald Reagan. Written on Republican Senate Inner Circle stationery and measuring 4.5x6.5", the invitation reads, "President Ronald Reagan/Vice President George Bush and the Republican Leadership of the United States Senate cordially invite Muhammad Ali to become a member of the Republican Senatorial Inner Circle as nominated by The Honorable John Heinz." Also included is a 5x7" black and white photo that shows President Reagan throwing a "punch" against Ali's jaw in a clowning photo with both men smiling. The place and occasion of the photo are not identified. It is not believed that Ali accepted the invitation to join the Republican Senate Inner Circle, but the invitation and photo are interesting collectibles of the sports loving President, who played college football, announced Major League games on radio recreations and starred in such sports movies as Knute Rockne, All American and The Winning Team - and Muhammad Ali, an International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee and the only 3-time lineal World Heavyweight Champion in history.
