Florida Marlins alternate jersey worn by pitcher Josh Beckett in 2004. The black knit jersey is lettered "Marlins" across the front and features the number "21" on the reverse. "Beckett" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in four-color tackle twill (white/aqua/black/silver). A Marlins team patch appears on the left sleeve, while a special "2003 World Series Champions" patch adorns the right sleeve. A "Russell Athletic" label is located on the left front tail, below which, respectively, are a "50" size tag, a "+2" Extra Length" tag, and a "+1" Sleeve Length" tag. The jersey is original as issued and displays light wear. Beckett fashioned a record of 9-9 with a 3.79 ERA in 2004, which was his third full season in the Majors. One of the top pitchers of his day, Beckett enjoyed a successful fourteen-year career (2001-2014), winning 138 games, including a league-leading and career-high 20 wins with Boston in 2007. Today, Beckett is best remembered for being one of the game's best "big game" pitchers based upon his impressive 7-3 postseason record, which included World Championships with both the Marlins (2003) and Red Sox (2007).
