Presented is a signed Mel Ott New York Giants' ticket stub. Hall of Famer Ott was in the Major Leagues with the New York Giants at age 16 in 1926, and he was the Giants' regular right fielder at 19, and he played his entire career with the team. When he retired after the 1947 season, the player nicknamed "Mister Melvin" had 511 home runs, more than 200 homers ahead of any other National League player. At 5'9" and 170 pounds, Ott was small for a power hitter, and the left-handed batter used a distinctive high front leg kick to generate power. Ott led the National League in home runs six times, and he hit .304 lifetime. Ott was a key member of the 1933 New York Giants World Champions. He was a 12-time All-Star, and he managed the Giants as a playing manager from 1942-47, and for part of '48 solely as a manager. The ticket stub measures approx. 1.5x3.13", and it was for a Game 30 at the Polo Grounds in New York City. The exact year of the ticket cannot be determined, but Horace Stoneham's name is listed as the Giants' Club President on the stub, and Horace Stoneham took over as President of the Giants in 1936. Ott neatly signed the stub in pen. The ticket stub has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA graded as "AUTHENTIC." The signed stub makes a valued remembrance for a man who was one of the leading home run hitters in National League history.
