Envelope signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young as part of the return address. PSA has encapsulated the envelope and certified the signature as "Authentic." Young's signature has been scripted in black fountain pen and grades 7/10. This envelope is part of a much larger signature collection compiled by our consignor's father in the late 1940s ("The New England Autograph Collection"). All the items from the collection are featured in thirty-one separate lots in this auction, including many prominent Hall of Famer autographs. Of all the many players our consignor's father corresponded with at the time, Young appears to have been the most obliging signer. As a result, his signature is featured several times in the collection. The envelope (6.5x3.75"), which is postmarked "Jan 31 1948," displays a semi-circular stain near the base (not affecting the Young signature) and is in Very Good condition overall.
