Index card signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Mordecai Brown. PSA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Brown's signature, which appears on the unlined side of the card, has been scripted in blue fountain pen and grades 7/10. Brown has added "a Cub" below his name. Brown's signature is one of the scarcest of all prewar Hall of Famers because of timing. Brown died in 1948, but wasn't inducted into the Hall of Fame until the following year, leaving a huge differential between the demand for his autograph and the very limited supply. This card is part of a much larger signature collection compiled by our consignor's father in the late 1940s ("The New England Autograph Collection"). All the items from the collection are featured in thirty-one separate lots in this auction, including many prominent Hall of Famer autographs. The index card (5x3") remains in Near Mint condition.
