In the summer of 2022, Gil Hodges finally was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Offered is the opportunity to obtain a 1970s Gil Hodges single-signed autographed Official National League Baseball (Feeney). Hodges played 18 seasons in the Major Leagues. He was with the Brooklyn Dodgers for part of 12 years, the Los Angeles Dodgers for four seasons, and the New York Mets for two campaigns. He hit 370 career home runs and had a lifetime .273 batting average. He was an 8-time All-Star and was a part of two World Champion Dodgers teams - one in Brooklyn and the other in Los Angeles. The 2022 posthumous Hodges' Hall of Fame induction was long overdue, as Hodges was eminently qualified. Gil hit more home runs in the 1950s (310) than any other National League right-handed batter. He was the best fielding first baseman of his era, and in the conversation as the best fielding first sacker of all time. As a manager, he took over the downtrodden New York Mets and led the team to the 1969 World Championship. In addition to all of his on-field accomplishments, Hodges had impeccable character, and he served in the United States Marines in World War II. Hodges signed the ball on a panel. Using a ballpoint pen, he signed and inscribed the ball in blue ink, writing, "Best Wishes Gil Hodges." Because of the passage of approximately half a century, the neatly written Hodges' signature and inscription are faded, but still legible. The Hodges signature is a 7/10. The ball has a few tiny scratches and some small scuff marks, but it is overall in very good condition. The single-signed ball comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity.
